I wanted to voice my concerns about a growing amount of young adults with extremely low self esteem in terms of their appearances.

I’m sure you can imagine, I’ve been on MySpace for like 3 years or something now?! So I’ve spoken to a wide variety people, and seen lots of different profiles… some better than others.

Anyway, that’s not the point I’m getting at… I wanna talk about the people that have no self confidence and upload pictures with titles like “i look ugly in this picture”, or “i hate this picture”… well firstly, if you don’t like the picture – why upload it?! Treat your profiles like an advertisement, I guess most of you want to attract potential new friends/partners to your profile and believe me, these comments do no favors; they kinda make it okay for other people to say them… and that isn’t nice.

As a model, a lot of people perceive me as being this shallow monster that walks around calling everybody ugly all day… that couldn’t be more wrong, I get offended when people automatically assume that of me… I honestly believe that EVERYBODY has at least one flawless feature about them, whether it’s their eyes, their figure or their hair and so on… and I also know that everybody has at least one feature that they hate about themselves and they will always see it worse than everybody else. I, for example hate my figure, okay, I’m totally slim and all, but sometimes I wish I had a little more muscle… but I know that my metabolism isn’t going to allow that, so I guess I’ll have to accept it and move on with my life.

Other people can change the things that they hate about themselves, if, for example you hate your weight – stop feeling sorry for yourself, do some exercises, eat healthily and be PROUD of who you are…

It’s heartbreaking to see people that ‘hate’ themselves and think that they are ugly, because seriously… that isn’t the case for any one of you reading this.

I want you to do something, for serious now – I want you to go and look at yourself in the mirror and find at least one attractive feature about yourself and then tell me what it is in a blog comment… seriously – even if you don’t feel confident to do so, you’ve gotta start somewhere, right?

And if you have pictures uploaded that you don’t like, delete them and take some better ones; don’t criticize yourself because at the end of the day, the only person you have is yourself.

I love you just how you are,
DiageoLiam xoxo

PS. IT ISN’T VAIN OR ‘BIG HEADED’ TO SAY THAT YOU’RE GORGEOUS! IT’S CONFIDENT AND IT’S GOOD!

A few weeks ago, I was watching a show on the topic of Transgenderism, and had a conversation with my sister that made me think… My sister made the comment: “people should just stay the gender God made them”.

It got me thinking…do you think that people are influenced to feel like a male or female? Do you think that maybe, inside, we can be entirely separate from what our outsides tell us we should be? If we are as we should be, why are some so unhappy?

All my life, I’ve felt like a girl. My parts told me I’m a girl. My parents told me I’m a girl. My society told me I’m a girl. I know I’m a female, I’m a woman, I’m a girl, because it FEELS right to me. I have no question that I am as I should be…but what about those who wake up and feel trapped in their own body? What about the people who look in the mirror and feel like they’re wearing a costume of who they should be?

And what about the things they have to go through in order to right what they believe to be wrong? They have to live life for at least a year as the opposite sex than they are before they can have a surgery to correct their gender. They also have to go through a period of psychiatric evaluation in order to determine if they are truly a transgender individual. Would you want someone telling you how to live your life?

I wouldn’t.

Bias in Blood?

Giving blood is a great way to help others in need. Whether it be a a transfusion for a newborn child or someone of an elderly state, black or white, or red, or green, blood donating has no bias…save for one. If you let volunteers taking your blood know you’re a homosexual, they won’t allow you to donate.

Why is this, being homosexual, such a large problem in the blood-donating world? It’s estimated that of the eligible people living in the United States(38%), only about 10% donate blood. If we’re in such a sanguinal defecit, why does it matter that the blood’s coming from a gay or a straight person? Isn’t healthy blood what we need?

It seems even charity work gives in to stereotyping and labeling. Many people are under the assumption that if you are a Gay Male, you must surely be carrying the dreaded AIDS virus in your blood. It’s not as common for people to believe Lesbians carry AIDS, but it is also a belief that they can pass on a life-threatening illness via transfusions. This problem isn’t just one in the US, but also in Europe, or for people that have traveled to different countries on a “watch list” of sorts.

There are lists of diseases, medical conditions, and surgeries, and each of those things has a time-limit on when an individual can donate blood. I’ve recently been looking into donating blood myself, and I would be able to do this. I would be cleared, as I have nothing on the list for the local donating station. I’m all set. No tattoos received in prison, I don’t have any crazy illnesses I can’t pronounce, and I am not Gay. I’m good to go. If a man with my exact same medical situation were to walk into the exact same blood-donation station I was in, and he were to say he was a homosexual, he would be turned away. His life-saving offer, turned down, because of his sexuality.

This screams “time for a gay rights movement”. It’s got GLAAD written all over it, but apparently, gays don’t have the same rights us straighties do. Heck, even Prop 8 was rejected, in CALIFORNIA. Where is the love? Obviously not in Cali. The rights of an individual who loves another of the same sex don’t extend past the Ellen Degeners show, a column in a local news paper, or Perez Hilton. At this rate, we’re gonna end up going back to beating women over the head and dragging them into the cave as “courtship”. Lovely.
