Read on...

Summer, 2007: Liam Rawrd (otherwise, 'DiageoLiam') currently aged 16 and finally graduated from high school created the original Ditch the Label 'Myspace.com' profile... initially, he didn't expect the campaign to be so popular or supported, but he thought he'd give it a try!

Liam's experiences of homophobia and awareness of discrimination led him to believe that something needed to be done to help people of minority groups feel confident and aware of their self-worth. (for more information regarding the inspiration of Ditch the Label, click here)

Late summer, 2007: The Myspace profile was recently hacked and deleted with over 10,000 supporters removed from the account. Liam felt like this would be the end of Ditch the Label but decided to do a little research... Eventually, Liam realised that there was a significant market for the campaign and ventured to launch a website and community solely for the campaign. Liam applied for a business grant from his local Chamber of Commerce; they said no.

November, 2007: Still adamant, Liam remastered a business plan for the campaign and presented it yet again, to the Chamber of Commerce; they were in awe of the concept but originally felt that it wouldn't be possible due to him only being 16.

April, 2008: Now aged 17, Liam, feeling exhausted and demotivated finally received a grant from the Government enabling him to expand the campaign to the big world wide web. Liam was one of the first people in the United Kingdom, aged under 18 to ever receive a Government business grant.
